This fish is named after the upper Xingu River basin in Brazil, where it’s commonly found.
A German fishkeeping magazine called DATZ used a “C-Numbers” system to identify different types of Corydoras fish.
Xingu corydoras was given the numbers “C55”, “C105”, “C106”, “C107”, and “C108” before they were correctly identified.
Its diet includes worms, small crustaceans, insects, and plants. This fish is popular in the aquarium trade industry.
