Long Nosed Arched Cory, scientifically named Corydoras narcissus, is a tropical freshwater fish that belongs to the Corydoradinae subfamily within the Callichthyidae family.
It’s native to inland waters in South America and can be found in the Purus River in the central Amazon Basin in Brazil.
This fish can be identified by the two dark stripes that run alongside its dorsal fins.
The diet of this fish consists of worms, small bottom-dwelling crustaceans, insects, and plant matter.
Unlike most other Corydoras, this fish can be aggressive towards others of its species.
This species was first collected by Herbert R. Axelrod and Martin R. Brittan. It was later described and named “narcissus” by Han Nijssen and Isaäc J. H. Isbrücker in honor of the collectors for their many naming suggestions.
The long nosed arched cory is found living alongside the similar species Corydoras arcuatus.
