It belongs to the sub-family Corydoradinae, which is part of the family Callichthyidae.
Before it was officially identified, this fish was called “C31” in a numbering system used by a German fishkeeping magazine, DATZ.
The blackstripe corydoras eats worms, small crustaceans, insects, and plant matter.
When reproducing, the female fish lays her eggs in dense vegetation, and the adults don’t guard them.
The female holds 2 to 4 eggs between her pelvic fins while the male fertilizes them for about 30 seconds.
Then, the female swims to a suitable spot and attaches the sticky eggs.
They repeat this process until around 100 eggs have been fertilized and attached.
