Splash Tetra Reproduction
Splash Tetras lay their eggs on objects above the water. The male Splash Tetra keeps the eggs wet by splashing water on them.
In an aquarium, both males and females swim up to a leaf, jump onto it, and lay 5 to 8 eggs at a time. The male fertilizes the eggs right away.
The pair do this multiple times until they’ve laid hundreds of eggs. The male continues to keep the eggs wet by splashing water on them with his tail.
When the baby fish hatch, they fall into the water.
