It has 13 dorsal spines, 13 to 14 dorsal soft rays, 2 anal spines, and 13 to 14 anal soft rays.
Adults have a yellowish-white body with a yellow-orange forehead that extends to the front of their back.
Each scale has a blue dot, and the area near the pectoral fin is orange.
The upper edge of the gill cover has a small dark spot. Young ones are bright pink in color.
